Montgomery County Maryland needs an advocate like Robin FIcker!

Robin has been fighting for the rights of the citizens of Montgomery County since he was elected as a Republican member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing Montgomery County from 1979 to 1983. Since leaving the House of Delegates, Robin has become known for promoting a series of ballot initiatives on term limits, curbing tax increases, and limiting budget waste and duplication. His property tax initiative passed in November 2008 receiving 194,151 votes. The measure requires the nine-member Montgomery County Council to vote unanimously to raise property tax revenue above the local limit. The victory earned him the Libertarian Party's Free Market Hero of the week award.

In October 2009, Robin convinced parks officials in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties to rescind enforcement of a rule requiring a permit before a person could carry signs or solicit signatures in county parks.

Robin will never stop fighting for the strength of Montgomery County- its people.

Why we need Robin on the County Council

Robin has been an advocate for District 2 residents for years.

- In May 2010, Robin testified before the Council against increasing county energy taxes. Instead, the Council increased residential energy taxes by 240%! With this kind of record summer heat...who can afford that!

- In 2008, 15,000 county residents signed his ballot petition to slow property taxes and 200,000 voters passed it into law that November.

- Robin has testified against high ICC tolls, Metro fare increases, ever-increasing water fees, electricity rate hikes, and the 20% state sales tax increase.

I've been representing you unofficially for years, but now I'd like your vote in the November elections for a seat on the County Council. The property tax measure you approved in the 2008 election permits one vote on the council to stop large property tax increases. If you elect me in November, I'll be that one vote and I shall make sure your money is spent wisely.
